For cat lovers, here is a raku bowl, handmade in Quebec. Make a nice set with the pencil pot and the mini cat bowl from the same collection.
This piece is a creation of Marie-Christine Lété, a Montreal ceramist. Passionate about sculpture, she also produces small series of pieces made on the wheel and fired in raku. Mainly decorative, but also utilitarian, they are neither dishwasher nor microwave safe.
Raku, which means joy and pleasure in Japanese, was, at the time, intimately linked to Zen philosophy and the tea ceremony. This technique, although controlled, gives a unique result for each piece, with the most exciting random effects.
