A touch of spring on Montreal and its outdoor wrought iron stairs. This architectural curiosity was born from a municipal law requiring a green space in front of the buildings. The promoters then had the idea in the 19th century to recover the lost space by placing the staircase outside!

This led to a reduction in the interior space of a building. To compensate for this lost space, staircases were placed outside!
