Ceramist
Marie-Christine Lété
Sculpture is her passion and an integral part of her approach to ceramics. She is particularly fond of women's torsos modelled with ceramic coils. She also produces small series of decorative and utilitarian pieces, made on the wheel and fired in raku. This firing method allows her to play with fire, producing results with exciting random effects that can give the impression that the pieces have a long history.

What excites you most about your work? Raku firing produces unpredictable results. I know the kind of results I expect, but after 36 years I can still go Wow!!!! Unfiring a piece. Exciting!
Why did you decide to join l'Empreinte cooperative as a member? L'Empreinte asked me to be an employee when they implemented the computer system... When I discovered the craftspeople who worked there, it was only a matter of time before I was accepted as a member and started volunteering.
How do you see the cooperative making a difference in Quebec's craft world? After 50 years, l'Empreinte has proved that joining forces can make a difference for everyone.
