Montreal-based ceramic artist Sophie Cousineau creates durable, multi-functional objects to brighten and comfort the senses. The primary colors she uses, the contrast between the color of the clay and the glaze, between the matte texture of the glaze and the bare clay contribute to the enhancement of the raw material.
I am inspired by the Bauhaus philosophy for the creation of sober objects, with minimalist geometric lines that can serve several functions. I am inspired by the colors and shapes used in the works of Gaudi, Kandinsky, Miro, and Hundertwasser.
